These materials include records of most state agencies and constitutional officers, vividly reflecting the history of Oklahoma State government . Scope and Contents Collection contains Historic Sites Preservation in Oklahoma Handbooks from 1971 and 1976 (2 copies each). These handbooks, published by the Oklahoma Historical Society, are intended to be of help and assistance to those interested in the preservation of the historic sites that constitute a portion of the heritage of Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City/County Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving and sharing the historical heritage of Oklahoma City. We conduct regular membership meetings with interesting and informative programs designed to stimulate interest in state and local history while maintaining an emphasis on Oklahoma City and the surrounding Oklahoma County. Oklahoma Historical Society executive director Bob Blackburn holds the pick ax that was used to break ground for the state Capitol building on July 20, 1914, during a news conference where Blackburn and other state officials previewed a $120 million renovation project they said will prepare the building for its next 100 years of service, in Oklahoma City.
